Mark Your Calendars

You will not want to miss this event, so mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Grow It Green contributor, agricultural resource and UNH Cooperative Extension educator, Margaret Hagen will be presenting a program and generating a discussion on “Raised Vegetable and Herb Garden Beds.”  If you have a patio or very small back yard and want to grow some outstanding fresh produce, this talk is for you. Come learn how you can adapt just about any space or container to grow fresh, luscious herbs and vegetables for your summer table. We’ll look at growing systems, container types, soil mixes, growing techniques, varieties for small spaces, companion plants, and resources for more information. Best of all, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune!

Margaret Hagen worked teaching horticulture for the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension for 30 years. During that period she worked with both members of the green industry and the general public. Margaret initiated the development of the New Hampshire Master Gardener program; played a key role in the establishment of the Education Center, designed to meet the needs of the general public by providing education and information over the breadth of Extension's programs; taped a weekly tv spot, “Grow It Green” for WMUR TV; and focused efforts on both stormwater and fertilizer management.

She is co-author of 2 books: The Best Plants for New Hampshire Gardens and Landscapes and Landscaping at the Water’s Edge: an Ecological Approach. She has a Master’s of Science in horticulture from Colorado State University.
